My last day in Detroit. I watched the kids while Barry & Sharina went on a "date" to the temple. I'm glad they trust me with their 4 children. They are good kids. We had a marshmallow roast before they took me to the airport. They took me tot eh Airport and I flew home. Thanks to Barry's brother Derek for picking up my car from Roy at my brothers house and bringing it to me at the airport. Thanks for Barrys mom who followed Derek and picked me up. It saved me an extra hour drive and by the time I got home, I was ready to be home.
I enjoyed my stay. I enjoyed reading books with the kids, listening to Nathan practice the piano, Nathan & Braydon practicing their violins. Sharina played me a song as well and it just makes me want to learn even more.
And a special thanks to Nathan who took time to teach me how to play Ches. Thanks for the stay at the "Beutler Hilton". You guys are the best!! I love and miss you.

Friday it rained again and we went shopping. When I say shopping I mean we hit Cosco and Walmart. I was just there to help out with the kids. I don't know how and mother goes to the store with their children. Sharina says she was able to get her 1 year supply of food. I'm glad I was able to help.

Later that evening we went swimming at the cutest little pool.

We headed off to the Detroit Zoo. We had such a good time. I think Sharina planned my trip so well. We were able to get out and do things and we didnt' have much to do the days it rained. It was perfect. I also went to the Temple Thursday morning while Barry got some sleep. Sharina was inspired, I needed to be there.

It was raining on Wednesday and Sharina had tole me about this amazing bread she makes--so I suggested we makd some bread since we weren't going outside. She said,"This is how you make bread..." She showed me the steps and we went into the living room while the bread was rising and the kids played downstairs. We heard a small explosion and something rolling and dough everywhere!!! Apparently too much humidity in the air!! All of the kids came running up stairs to see what was going on. I kept the kids out of the way while Sharina cleaned it all up. (What kind of friend am I?) She kept telling me after that I don't think it's going to work out. But look... it did. And it was delicious!!!
We went shopping for a while afnd later went to the Park to play. They boys wanted to play cops & robbers. After playing for a while the boys told me I'm old and slow.

When we first go to the park we enjoyed a ride around the town in an 1928 Model T-Ford. I enjoyed the ride and had fun watching the kids smile the entire time.

Menlo Park is where Thomas Edison worked on his electric light. This is where he worked so hard to make the electric light work like he wanted it to. it was surprising still howdim the light was, but it was better than nothing, and to them I'm sure it was amazing. We also listened to his voice recorded on tin foil--what an amazing man!

At the end of the day I took 5 of the kids on the Omnibus from one end of the village to the other while Sharina and Anna traveled with their strollers. I must have been really scarry because all of the kids listened well. It was time for the horses to go have lunch and we should have transfered onto the other Omnibus, but I wasn't 100% sure where it was going so we just walked the rest of the way.

We ventured off to Henry Ford's Greenfield Village. Greebfield Cillage is an Educational & Inspriign village Henry Ford put together. He had historical buildings imported to him, his friends and family. There are slave quarters, William H. McGuffy's school house and birth place the Wright Brothers Shop, an English Cottage, a Swiss Charlet, Robert Frosts home, Menlo Park - Thomas Edison's historical buildings, Henry Fords birth place, working farm and a wide variety of time-era buildings and train round house, chapel and many other buildings.
The Beutler family friend Ann Burns and her 5 children went with us. Nathan found a girlfriend right off the bat and by the end of the day Brayden followed his big brothers example and was holding hands with his friends. It was so cute--Remember I was just the visitor, not the parent. =)

We visited McGuffys shool house adn had lunch on the lawn

Detroit 2009 with the Beutlers

I flew to Detroit to see Barry and Sharina and their family on Monday, August 24,2009 When I got off the plain they had Arby's for lunch all ready for me. (Sharina is always thinking.) When we got home Tierzah taught me how to pick the tomatoes out of the garden. She likes to pick the green ones so Sharina told her to pick the "red ones" for me. She did a pretty good job. We also went swimming at the neighbors house. Bary was able to get off work early so he was able to come over late. For dinner we roasted hot dogs in the "firepit" in the back yard. These guys are country folk living in the city.... I love it!! I forgot about Barry's "Chomp Chomp" Story at the pool. It was a good laugh. Thanks Barry.

July 4,2009 with the Barkers

Mom,dad and I went to Roy for the 4th of July. We visited the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park with Brian, Sarah, Tadden, Wes & Maddison. Wes and Grandpa slept in the car while the rest of us walked throught the park. When Wes woke up Grandpa brought him into the park and we ate lunch and the kids played on the swings and slides. After a while of playing we took Wes and Grandpa on a quick tour of the outside of the park. We then went in to the indoor portion and saw moving Dinosaurs. The kids weren't really too excited about this but it was neat to see. We looked at some rocks and old weapons; Tadden pointed them out to us.

After the Dinosaur Park we headed back home to Brian and Sarah's house. Later that evening we went to Brett and LaDonn's house for a BBQ with Mark & Danielle and Tim & his wife. The kids had a good time jumping on the tramp while the adults visited.

While at Brian and Sarah's house we filled up a ton of water balloons and the boys played with them. Tadden started diving in the small pool in the front yard and that became a game. Wes even decided to jump in after a while. We all had a good time laughing at the boys.

Brian and the boys came down to help dad on the Stack Yard fence. Tadden and Wes were good helpers. We gave them each a hammer and some nails and they took care of the boards we gave them. It kept them busy and out of the way while we worked. I think they had a good time.

Brian, Sarah, Tadden, Wes and Maddison came down in July as well. While they were here we went to Grandma Doris and Grandpa Dan's house and rode the horses. Tadden wanted to ride a "bucking" horse. When he got on Smokey he wasn't so sure he wanted to ride that bucking horse. He said, "MMMMM... Aunt Randa, I don't think I want to ride a bucking horse, I'm kinda scared." It was cute. So Brian took both of the boys out behind Grandma's house and when Tadden got a little more confidence built up Brian started going up and down hills and through gullies. Well you guessed it.... That dang horse "bucked" him off. =) Really he fell off. But when he came to tell me about it he was absoultly positive that horse had bucked him off. Wes just enjoyed short rides and helped me cary my saddle back to the truck. When he got tired, he decided to take a quick rest.
