Marsing Ranch 2009

Well it was rough rougad country but it was well worth the hike in and out. I think there was all a good time had for all. We did have a rough hike out. We hiked out 750 yards almost straight up and down. We stopped about every 50-60 yards up and took a breather. We had fun and even made it home in time for confrence.

Dad and Glen called back on the radio and told us they had found the headstone but there really wasnt much there to see so we didn't need to come down the steep mountain. Chad radioed down and said he was on his way down. Mom looked at me and asked if I wanted to go down. I told her it didnt really matter to me but dad didnt even take a camera with him so we wouldn't get any pictures. We started our decent. Talking on the way down that it was going to be a fun climb back to the top. We reached out destination with no problems. Dad, Glen and Chad all went looking for the old buildings and homes while mom and I were on our way down. They found them. We took pictures at the grave then headed to find the boys. We had a little trouble following or recieving directions, but we eventually found them. The sight was amazing. I can't believe they still have mud on the roofs and some other things still hanging on the outside of building and some old broken furniture inside some of them.

Mom, dad, Glen Fredrickson, Chad Marsing and myself took off on an adventure yesterday. Saturday, November 7,2009. We were trying to find the old Marsing Ranch. They had maps and GPS co ordinances. We drove in as far as we could and then started our hike in. We stood atop a crest and dad says, "Well, there's your grave marker." Mom says,"No, They brought in a Marble Headstone, so that can't be it." Dad was looking through his binoculars. He could see it. It was about 4-5 feet high. Needless to say Curiosity got the Cat...Dad and Glen Started down the mountain too see what they could see.
Well I went on an official Elk hunting trip in August. I had a great time spending time with my mom and dad, Brian, Sarah and their kids. Uncle Brad went and spent a day with us as well. As you can see in my pictures there are no elk. We saw quite a few on opening morning. I shot at one 800 yards out and shot right over the top of him. Thank goodness I really didn't get him or we would have had to miss Confrence on Sunday to get him out of there. I was starting to get frustrated that I hadn't seen anything since opening day, but I also enjoyed my time with my family. Tanner Dimick also had a tag and we hunteded together. I was able to get to know him better and that was good.
We did see deer on the Elk hunt though. I stopped hunting elk and started scoping out deer because Brian had a deer tag the Saturday after my hunt ended. Lucky him he was able to get one on opening morning. I am a much better shot than he is, but his deer wanted to die so he kept running at him saying "Shoot again and see if you can hit me this time..." This went on for about 4-5 shots. Needless to say, Brian still owes me some jerkey that I will never see. (Thants ok Bri, I understand =)
