St.George '09/ Divorce

On May 4,2009 I left for St. George, UT with the Price, UT college stake. We had a great time while there. We visited many sights. We fist stopped at The Mountain Meadow Massacre. There was a gentleman there who talked to us about Pres. Hinkley having a monument placed there and a little about what had happened there. We then went on to Pine Valley. This is a little town tucked up against the mountains. This is where most of the saints went to get their wood to build their homes and also to build the St. George Temple, Tabernacle and most of the chapels. We toured the small chapel there. They were not quite ready for us so we sat in the chaple and sang songs until they were ready for us. We then toured and went outside and had dinner. We had a small devotional there where they asked me to bare my testiomny. After the devotional we continued on to St. George.
On Tuesday, May 5, 2009 we visited the John Hamblin Home, the Brigham Young home, the Tabernacle and the Temple Quary sight. This was a nice day for us. Our group was able to hike to the quary in the morning so it wasn't 100* yet! It was amazing to see how hard the Pioneers worked so hard to have such a beautiful temple. Something I learned while touring through the homes was the Brigham Young liked nice things, he loved the look of marble but they did not have a lot of access to it so the pioneers spent a lot of time painting their wood to look like marble.
On Wednesday, May 6, 2009 we all loaded up and headed for the Church Walefare Farm. This is a fruit farm and they produce half of the churches peaches and apricots on this farm. We had a lot of fun working and helping. I didn't hear one complaint. It was a nice hot day and we were to cut the larger branches up and prune the small sticks off of so they could haul it over to a different section of the farm and people could use it as fire wood. After the service project, we went and played in the swimming pool for 3 hours. It was a nice refreshing day. After the pool, we went and had dinner. After dinner Miss Utah spoke to us.
On Thursday, May 7, 2009 we left early and headed to Zions National Park. This is the first time I had been there. It was a nice day, started out cool and warmed up quickly. I hiked with mom, dad, Bishop and Sister Fredrickson, Brother and Sister Lee. We hiked to Emeral Springs and part way up the Narrows. The water was too high to make it all the way up. I would like to go back someday and hike again. I enjoyed the beautiful creations. After we went back to town and had dinner then traveled up to Tuchan and saw Brian Regan a comedian.
On Friday, May 8,2009 we met at the church across from the Temple and had a devotional with the Temple President and his wife. After the devotional those of us who were Endowed went through a session while the others did Baptisms for the Dead. I spent some extra time in the Celestial Room and just soaked in the Spirit. I knew they didn't have anything else planned for us for the rest of the day so I enjoyed myself.
Colleen Loveless was my roomie!! I was able to have my own bed and sleep well all week. We did have some late night chats, but some very enjoyable conversations. All in all we had a great trip. Little complaining and everyone safe. Does it better than that?!! (I will have to scan in the picts I had developed cuz I erased them before I got them on the computer, silly me.)

On Friday, May 22,2009 my divorce was finalized!!! This was very good news!! The attourneys office called me on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 and told me my divorce was final, I did not totally believe them because I had been told this in December with it not really being final. I told Sheila at the office that I wasn't counting on anything until I had paperwork in hand. On Wednesday, May 27, 2009 I recieved another call and they said they had the decree in hand. So I left work and picked it up. I stopped at Oil Express to tell my dad. I almost started crying when he said, "What are you crying for? It's over." on of his employees said, "Brent, they are tears of joy." LOL Yipeeeeee!!!!
